Came here for my first official camping experience and sadly cut my stay short because of the unwanted treatment by the staff.

We did self service entry and it was pretty late so we failed to realize we set up on a reserve only camp site. We apologized and attempted to work with the park ranger to reserve the space instead of taking our stuff down and leaving or relocating. Apparently, he preferred for us to leave because after telling us reservations can only be done online, he failed to mention that we wouldn't be able to because they have to be done 48 hours in advance. Which completly contradicts his reasoning of us having to leave because "someone can be making a reservation at any moment now".

So after calling the front office, the woman let us know that the spot is not reserved for the day (makes sense because it was off season and there was barely anyone there and plenty of other spots for people to work with us if that was the case). Then after trying to reserve with her, she said that only the park ranger had the authority to decide if we can stay or not and that to her knowledge he said we were leaving.

The understanding was pretty clear that I was willing to pay and make the reservation to keep our spot. Needless to say, they clearly didn't want us to stay and we didn't.

The park looked beautiful and the location was great. Wish we actually got to follow through with the trails we had planned.

This National Park is much more than I was expecting. the trails are very nice, though a bit challenging at times. The water falls we're just a bit smaller than I thought. Overall a great Park. May 1, 2018 entry fees go up to $10 a car. I think that is a bit high.
